Pies animation

https://youtu.be/G0HR6H2xIl8

Here's my animation uploaded on youtube. I made my roommates favorite dessert and filmed it!
It was really fun to try and find all the sounds and create the roloscopy.

Colorized

Here's the colorizing project from earlier this year, I was in the hospital when we were finishing this up so I didn't get as much time as I wanted to work on it however at least it's finished.

History of Magnetic Recording Reading

The progress of sound and it's different component was highly influenced by research in the 18 and 19 century, including techniques such as electromagnetism ( using magnetic fields to produce the current that sound waves came from), magnetic recording theaory (a theory that detailed how iron fillings passing through a coil could create a magnetic signal that could then produce sound), and the telegraphone (a device which used hard steel to achieve a similar goal). All of these influenced the use of modern devices such as tape recording which came from the use of magnetic tape and wire. The enterance of computers however completely changed these ideas and created a whole new platform to record almost infinite amounts whereas previously very short clips were created. The use of magnetism is still very essential to the recording process however now it is done at a much smaller scale.
This article is slightly outdated but obviously the research and theories hold true, it's final section is just slightly behind in time.

Autoscopy

My autoscopy is a reflection of my struggles with my eating disorder and how a good day feels compared to a bad day. On the left is a bad day, trying to understand why the good days feel so different when there might not be anything significantly different in my actions. I liked that it looks like the roses are almost burning on that side, playing with the effects on them was probably my favorite part of this. Santiago didn't like how small I was in the images but part of the message was the distance I feel between my two selves and how that distance makes it harder to understand both sides. I also think for me the roses were more of the message than my actual photo, since they're supposed to be such a romantic thing and too often depression and eating disorders are romanticized when in reality there is nothing romantic about it.
This is the high quality print version.

100% quality JPG
75% quality JPG
50% quality JPG
25% quality JPG
0% quality JPG
As a gif file I played with the color differences, this is 2 colors. I like the imprints it creates. This one and grayscale are my favorites from this.
This is 4 colors,In this you can see the difference in the roses a little better.
This is a black and white version with 4 colors, I like that both versions of me contrast with the background, but that the light version is clear and the dark still blends with the background.
This is my other favorite from playing with GIF settings, this one is grayscale, and I really like the contrast but also the maintenance of the quality with it.
